Down there somewhere, I wrote an entry about having buzz and hum, and how I worked to track it down. Well, just to close that loop, I found that I had some really crap cables in the signal chain. I don't know about you, but I keep all kinds of connectors and cables and whatnot, and with all the cables necessary to put together this signal chain, I thought I could get away with saving some money on buying new cables. Yep, I fell for the oldest trick in the book.
Crap Cables Excellent Cables
So I bought four new patch cables, Spectraflex Original Series. Each six foot cable was $27, so the cost adds up. All of my pedal connectors are new too, and those are not bargain priced cables either. No more buzz, hum, or radio stations coming through my amp. And pretty soon, I'll be going stereo, so I'll have to buy another bunch of cables to run stereo from the delays, to the reverb and out to the looper and amp. Hello Spectraflex!
